The 62 Caliber Blowguns are far superior to the smaller 40 caliber blowgun in small game hunting. These are not toys or novelty items; blowguns are deadly weapons, capable of launching darts and hard ammo at a velocity of up to 350 feet per second.
There are two commercial manufactures of 62 Caliber Blowguns, Boarhog and Cold Steel.
Boarhog Blowgun tubes are heavy wall precision made just for the Pro Hunter and the Target Shooter that demands accuracy and precision. This is extruded aluminum, straight tubing sections. The tubing is anodized, not painted. The wall thickness, or inside diameter ID, is 0.175, double the thickness of the standard .40 Cal blowgun tube. The anodizing is throughout the entire extruded tubing, inside and out. Available in the 36", 48" and 60" length.
Cold Steel Blowguns are also made of thick aluminum tubing and come with an inovative mouth piece. Shooting a blowgun is great fun. It is an activity that can be enjoyed indoors or out, in sunny or inclement weather. Here is a picture of a 40 caliber Zytel tipped dart compared to the 62 caliber Zytel tipped dart. The 40 caliber wieghs 18.5 grains compared to the 62 caliber's massive 49 grains.
This next picture compares the 40 caliber wire target dart at 14 grains to the 60 grain, 62 caliber Mini Broadhead.
 I have been shooting blowguns for a number of years. Specificly a 36 inch 40 caliber blowgun that I shoot periodicly mostly at indoor targets and games that we make up and play in the winter months. When my brother interested me in the 62 caliber blowguns, I ordered a Cold Steel, 5 foot blowgun. It is truly unlike the 40 caliber blowguns. The tube is heavy wall and straight. As soon as I got the blowgun, I tried the new darts at the first target I could find, it was an empty pop can. With the first shot at 20 feet, the Zytel tipped dart shot completely through the can and the entire dart exited the can. The hole is huge!
I made a quick back stop and shot another can. The small hole in the "E" was made by a 40 caliber target dart.
At a distance of 25 feet, I could not shoot a dart that would protrude through a 1/2" board. The Mini Broadheads and the Broadheads did stick deep in the board. I had to use pliers to get the Mini Broadheads out of the board.
